High-Speed Wrong Way Driver Illinois State Police Pursuit On I-294: Suspect In Custody Near Odgen Ave
Illinois State Police are involved in a high speed chase starting about 9:44 PM Thursday for a report that initially involved a wrong way driver 41.807501,-88.053495 (I-294 near Willow Springs Road). The vehicle, a red newer model Grand Am 2-door turned around at about the 30 mile marker and headed southbound in the southbound lanes after hitting an Illinois State Police squad and causing minor damage.
A pursuit headed southbound about 80 mph to I-88. The pursuit headed westbound on I-88. The vehicle slowed down suddenly and stopped near Ogden Avenue on I-88. Illinois State Troopers reported the suspect's vehicle was possibly on fire. No confirmation on fire -- possibly overheating. A second Illinois State Trooper squad car was also hit -- receiving minor damage.
Suspect was in custody by 10:09 p.m.
