Schaumburg Police To Honor Fallen Officer Frank P. Russo With Candle Light Vigil Tonight

Friday, November 1st at 9:45 p.m.
Nov. 1 marks the five-year anniversary of the line of duty death of Schaumburg Police Officer Frank Russo. The department will honor our fallen comrade during a Friday evening candle light vigil at the Schaumburg Police and Fire Department Memorial Wall, 1000 W. Schaumburg Road.

Officer Russo was a 19-year veteran at the time of his passing and spent the later 13-years of his career working the midnight watch patrolling Beat 8 on the north side of the village. Recently the Village of Schaumburg dedicated Hammond Drive between Algonquin Road and Palmer Drive as Honorary Officer Frank Russo Way.

The vigil will consist of the midnight watch conducting an outdoor roll call in Officer Russo's honor, fellow officers will give comments about Officer Russo and an honorary replica street sign will be presented to Officer Russo's widow. The Schaumburg Police Honor Guard will be present and a Schaumburg police officer will play bagpipes to conclude the vigil.

This vigil is open to the public. Media requesting additional information or needing assistance in covering the vigil can contact PIO Sgt. Nebl.
