Arlington Police Officers' Fop Lodge 80 Help Target Store With $100 Holiday Shopping Spree For 10 Kids "Shop With A Cop"

A very merry Saturday morning at Target, 1700 East Rand Road as Arlington Heights Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 80 took ten children shopping through the aisles.

At 6:45 a.m. about 20 Arlington Heights police officers helped children by gifts for their families. Each police officer had an assigned child with the help of a grant from Target. the police officers helped out with the budgeting, as each child was given a $100 gifts card. A few police officers helped out of their own pockets when a few children were a little over budget. One child said he arrived at the store a few days ago for an afternoon to plan ahead for today.

Target employees were in the spirit, as all in attendance had a great time.

Hersey High School sent at least 20 students -- many part of SOS (Service Over Self organization). Teachers at John Hersey High School also put the word out for any students that wanted to help with shopping and gift wrapping.

Arlington Heights Police Officer Pete Hamrick coordinated the efforts of police officers and students.

The event started at 6:45 a.m. sharp, just before the store opened with its special hours of 7:00 am. to midnight from 12/21/2013 to 12/23/2013. Several early shoppers asked how police officer Michael McEvoy was doing, and extended their Get Well wishes.
