Honda Civic Crashes Into Apartment On Ridge Square, Elk Grove Village; Apartment Evacuated

Elk Grove Village police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 12:23 AM Wednesday to a report of car crash into an apartment at 918 Ridge Square Elk Grove Village, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a car crashed into an apartment building. The 28-year-old male apparently experienced a medical event prior to the crash.

Police extricated a the male driver from the vehicle where heavy black smoke was rising off of spinning and burning tires.

Police called for firefighter/paramedics to expedite. A paramedic crew from Ambulance 7 was rushed up to the front of the scene, and the victim was transported to Alexian Brothers Medical Center.

The vehicle also pushed a 33-LB propane tank into the building during the crash. There was no fire.

Residents were evacuated from the building, but were allowed to return about 1:26 a.m.

The crashed Honda Civic damage brick and a support column. An Elk Grove Village building inspector and an apartment property agent also responded to the scene.

The car-building crash is the second crash in one week. On Wednesday July 2, 2014, a 2000 Toyota Corolla crashed into a house on the 1000 block of Cypress Lane. The driver fled the scene, but was captured later after he parked in the same apartment complex where today's crash occurred -- on Washington Square, northwest of Ridge Square.
