Apartment Fire On Arbor Drive At Woodfield Crossing Apartments, Rolling Meadows

Rolling Meadows police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 1:29 PM Wednesday to a report of an apartment fire at Woodfield Crossing Apartments, 4728 Arbor Drive Rolling Meadows, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of smoke coming from a patio of a second floor apartment in a three-story apartment building.

Police first on the scene reported heavy smoke coming from the bedroom window. Fire command upgraded to a working fire response based on that information during response to the fire.

Firefighters evacuated on male adult who was sleeping and slept through the fire alarm tones. Firefighters woke him up, and immediately dragged him from his apartment.

Two residents also rescued their own dog that was hiding under a bed.

The fire was reported in apartment 211.

Rolling Meadows had the primary fire attack hose line. A Palatine fire engine crew had the secondary attack hose line. Firefighters had water on the fire by 1:41 p.m.

The firefighters response was upgraded to a box alarm at about 1:42 p.m.

Crews also worked to evacuate other residents. A primary search of the third floor was all clear by about 1:51 p.m.

A Schaumburg fire truck crew took a main aerial ladder to the roof to check on roof conditions.

The box alarm was struck out immediately by about 1:51 p.m. as the fire was under control. A mattress continued to smolder and was brought a fire truck where tank water was dumped on it to extinguished the burning, smokey mattress.
