Palatine High School Runner Doing Well After Being Hit by Car at Rohlwing Rd and Palatine Rd

Palatine police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 6:41 AM Thursday to a report of a pedestrian hit by a car at Palatine Road and Rohlwing Road Palatine, IL. Palatine High School cross country runner Ryan Kissane is reportedly doing well at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge Thursday morning after being hit by a car while on a training run.

The student was on an unofficial off-season training run when he was hit by a Chevy Camaro.

Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a male runner was hit by a car on Palatine Road near Rohlwing Road.

With the possibility of serious injuries, Kissane was transported to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital by Palatine Rescue Ambulance 83's crew with an extra paramedic on board.

An Accident Investigation Team (Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction or STAR) was on the scene at the crash site Thursday morning. Roads in the area were blocked and/or involved in diversions Thursday morning.

Kissane was hit by a silver or gray 2000 Chevrolet Camaro that had turned left from southbound Rohlwing Road to eastbound Palatine Road. The driver was a 39-year-old Palatine man, who witnesses reported had a green light for Rohlwing Road.
