Dui Crash Destroyed Garage Door And Back Wall At Apartment/Condo, Arlington Heights
Arlington Heights police responded about 12:38 PM Wednesday to 1226 South New Wilke Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that a man driving an SUV hit a car and a garage at an apartment/condo complex. There were no reported injuries.
Police arrived and discovered a male driver, age 49. The man as arrested for DUI and transported in custody to Arlington Heights Police Department Headquarters.
Wet tire tracks showed that the crossover SUV -- a white Buick Enclave -- was driven in one or more large circles in the parking lot. He crashed with at least one vehicle and a multi-family detached garage on the apartment/condo complex. The force of the crashes pushed one vehicle almost 90 degrees, destroyed a garage door, destroyed a brick support post to the garage, and destroyed a back wall of the garage -- leaving a gaping hole at the back of the garage.
A Village of Arlington Heights building inspector arrived to check for structural damage, which would be secured if necessary.
The crash was the second crash in two consecutive days to cause significant damage to a building in Arlington Heights. On Tuesday a car hit a house at Central Road and Belmont Avenue. There were no injuries in the house, but an adult and two children in the car were injured and transported to Northwest Community Hospital.
