Two Retail Theft Suspects In Foot Chase With Security, Get Away At Jewel-Osco, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police responded about 7:06 PM Wednesday to a report of a retail theft in progress at Jewel-Osco, 440 East Rand road Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report of two retail theft suspects at large in the parking lot of Jewel-Osco on Rand Road near Palatine Road.

Jewel-Osco security personnel were involved in a foot chase out the front door of the store with a male/black suspect carrying a backpack. Suspect #1 outran a security staffer at Jewel-Osco. The suspect first ran southeast along the building storefront, and then turned around and ran northwest along the storefront and got away.

The suspect walked out of the store while security pursued the first suspect.

Suspect #1 was described as a male/black subject, age 19-25 years-old, 5'10" medium build with no facial hair, wearing dark winter clothing. He was carrying a multi-colored backpack.

Suspect #2 was described as a male/black subject in his 20s, about 5'11" medium build with no facial hair, wearing dark winter clothing, and also carrying a backpack.

The crime is reported to have occurred just after 7:00 p.m.

An employee at Jewel-Osco, who wanted to remain anonymous, stated that there have been several incidents like this recently. Arlington Heights Police Department has not reported any recent incidents at the Jewel-Osco in their Citizen Observer releases.
