Rollover Truck Crash Traps, Injures 2 At Route 53 And Lake Cook Rd, Long Grove

Illinois State Police and Palatine police and Long Grove firefighter/paramedics responded about 2:37 PM Wednesday to a rollover truck crash at the interchange at 42.153263,-88.015424 (Route 53 and Lake Cook Road Arlington Heights, IL). Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a truck rolled over on the ramp from northbound Route 53 to eastbound Lake Cook Road.

Two people were trapped in the truck cab and were extricated about one minute apart by 3:09 p.m. Long Grove firefighters stood by with a hose line while other crews extricated the two patients from the truck

One patient was transported to Northwest Community Hospital and one patient was tansported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. Both patients apparently had non-life-threatening injuries.

Firefighter/paramedics from Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, and Prospect Heights assisted Long Grove firefighter/paramedics.

Hillside Towing and Ernie's Towing were both on the scene. The crashed truck was a flatbed semi-trailer carrying large steel coils. Hillside took the primary job of uprighting the truck.

Firefighters responded to a second crash about 5:23 p.m. on northbound Route 53 just north of Rand Road. A high speed vehicle crashed into the last car in the backup from the truck crash, injuring at least another two people.
