Village of Arlington Heights: "Keep Fourth of July Parade Parkways Clear"
Fourth of July parade-goers are requested to refrain from "reserving" space along the parkways aligning the Fourth of July parade route until 7 p.m., July 3, the night before the parade.
Past practices of reserving a space with blankets, tarps, chairs, etc. to ensure a good viewing spot can cause damage to grass, impede pedestrians, and are problematic for homeowners along the route who may need to water their parkways, mow their lawns, or place their refuse and recycling at the curb for pick-up.
The Parade starts at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 4 from Oakton Street and Dunton Avenue, travels south on Dunton Avenue to Miner Street and then east on Miner Street to Recreation Park, 500 E. Miner Street. The Parade and annual Frontier Days Festival is planned by a volunteer group of over 500 citizens.
The Village asks everyone to be "a good neighbor" by refraining from reserving a space on the parkways until 7 p.m., Friday, July 3. Come out the morning of the Parade to enjoy one of the largest and best parades in the Northwest suburbs. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Frontier Days Festival!
