Press Conference: Male Shooter, Age 20, at Umpqua Community College Was "Neutralized" and Killed When Encountered by Police

In a press conference at 1:42 p.m. PT Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin reported that law enforcement responded to a report of an active shooter, encountered the shooter, and neutralized the shooter.

The shooter was only described as a male, and the shooter was neutralized and killed by the initial responding officers.

Sheriff Hanlin only confirmed that there were fatalities and injuries. No count of victims was announced at the press conference.
