Beach Park Man Charged with Double Homicide in Baseball Bat Beating of Wife and Stepson on Bairstow Drive

Lake County Sheriff's Deputies and Beach Park Rescue responded at 2:45 AM Sunday to a rescue call in the block of 10200 West Bairstow Avenue, Beach Park, IL. When Sheriff's Deputies arrived, they located five individuals inside the residence. Two of the individuals were deceased, a woman and her son. Both had obvious signs of significant trauma and both appeared to be victims of a homicide. The deceased have been identified as Lailani Uy Trejo, 43, and Patrick K. Cruz Uy, 14, both of the 10200 block of West Bairstow Avenue, Beach Park.

A 68 year-old woman was also located inside the residence, injured, and transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. She has since been treated and released. Two adult male subjects were located inside the residence. One was determined to be a witness and the other was determined to be a person of interest.

The person of interest, Armando Trejo, Jr., 47, also of the 10200 block of West Bairstow Avenue, Beach Park, was transported to the Lake County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division. Trejo admitted to Sheriff's Detectives he struck Lailani Uy Trejo and Patrick K. Cruz Uy numerous times on the head and body with a baseball bat.
Lake County Sheriff's Office Evidence Technicians processed the crime scene. A metal baseball bat containing what appeared to be blood and other evidence was collected at the scene.

Armando Trejo, husband and stepfather of the deceased has been charged with four (4) counts of First Degree Murder (Unclassified Charge) and one (1) count of Aggravated Battery (Class 2 Felony). He is currently being held in the Lake County Jail on a $5,000,000.00 bond. Trejo's next court date is December 22, 2015 at 1:30PM in courtroom C-120.

Autopsies of both victims are currently underway by the Lake County Coroner's Office.
