Amtrak Train Crash with BNSF Welding Truck Parked Near Tracks Near Yackley Ave North of Hitchcock Ave, Lisle

Lisle police and Lisle-Woodridge firefighters 6:35 AM Saturday to a report of a train crash with a railroad maintenance truck near the Yackley Avenue bridge north of Yackley Avenue and Hitchcock Avenue, Lisle, IL. Lisle-Woodridge firefighters responded about 6:35 p.m. Saturday after a crash occurred involving an Amtrak train and a BNSF welding truck. Significant damage occurred to the welding truck, and immediately after the crash, two workers reported injuries. Workers were working nearby making repairs on the tracks while their truck was parked near the railroad tracks.

Amtrak train 383 was southbound, headed for Quincy, Illinois, when it hit the BNSF welding truck. The Amtrak train had 114 passengers and three crew members on board. No injuries were initially reported.

Metra BNSF inbound and outbound trains were stopped after the crash. Outbound train No. 1317 was stopped near the crash site. Delays continued several hours after the crash.

Passengers on outbound train No. 1319 were transferred to train No. 1317. Train No. 1319 returned to the city to function as the 10:45 p.m. outbound BNSF train.

Inbound trains No. 1320 and No. 1322 were canceled late Saturday night.

No Amtrak schedules were affected by the crash.
