Major Crash on Tri-State Tollway Eastbound Near Half Day Rd, Lincolnshire, Deerfield -- 5 Injured

Illinois State Police and Deerfield-Bannockburn firefighter/paramedics responded about 3:36 PM Sunday to a report of crash with injuries at 42.202497, -87.890199 (Southbound Tri-State and Half Day Rd Deerfield, Il). Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a rollover crash occurred in the eastbound lanes of the Tri-State Tollway (Interstate 94).

Upon arrival Illinois State Police and firefighter/paramedics discovered one or two patients down in the roadway -- apparently ejected from the rollover vehicle.

Five ambulance responded to the crash scene, which was located on the eastbound (southbound) lanes, just north of Half Day Road (Route 22).

Two patients were transported to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.

Two patients were transported to Lake Forest Hospital

One patient was transported to Glenbrook Hospital.

At least two of the patients were pediatric patients.

All lanes of Eastbound I-94 were closed at the time of the crash. Eastbound (southbound) traffic north of the scene was backed up to north of Everett Road at 3:45 p.m.

A secondary back was caused by a blockade at Route 60 with all eastbound (southbound) traffic being diverted at Route 60. The secondary backup extended north of Route 176 (Park Avenue) at 3:45 p.m.

A crash reconstruction investigation is underway and may have all eastbound (southbound) lanes of I-94 block until about 6:00 p.m.
