Fire in Trump Tower Trash Compactor on 50th Floor Extinguished by Sprinklers, Chicago

Chicago police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:06 AM Thursday to a report of a fire at Trump Tower, 401 North Wabash Avenue Chicago, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of a fire on an upper floor at Trump Tower.

On arrival, firefighters learned that there was a fire in a trash compactor on the 50th floor.

Firefighters reported that sprinklers were deployed and that the fire was out by 9:19 a.m. Firefighters also reported light smoke conditions on the floor.

Firefighters elevated the fire department response to a Still and Box Alarm to assign extra firefighters for salvage and to prevent water damage.

Firefighters were using squeegees to control water on the floor.

An EMS Plan 1 and a 2-11 Alarm were also called, but both of those alarm were immediately secured and struck out.

Searches were conducted on all floors. All searches were reported clear by about 10:00 a.m.
