Arlington Heights Resident, Northfield Part-Time Firefighter Accused of Installing Unlawful Video Camera in Northfield Fire Station Shower

Edward T. Panicko, Jr, age 59, of Arlington Heights has been charged with misdemeanor unauthorized video recording and obstruction of a police officer, according to police.

Police say Panicko is accused of unlawfully placed a video recording device in the fire station shower to record another fire department employee showering without the victim's consent, and then falsely told police during an investigation that he destroyed the device.

Panicko, who had been a part-time firefighter in Northfield for nine years, resigned earlier in July and turned himself in to authorities on July 25, 2016. The information from a Village of Northfield news release also reported that suspect Panicko was a retired Glenview firefighter.

Northfield Fire Rescue employees about 55 personnel and serves a population of about 5,420 in a 3.2 square mile district.
