Brush Fire at Bittersweet Golf Club on Almond Rd and Bittersweet Dr, Gurnee

Gurnee police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 12:35 PM Tuesday to a report of a brush at Bittersweet Golf Club, 875 Almond Road Gurnee, Il. Firefighter/paramedics were working on a large brush fire and called an extra alarm response to battle the wildfire.

A MABAS Division 4 Box Alarm on Box #13-59 for a brush fire was called out at about 12:35 p.m.

Firefighters from the northwest suburbs included Long Grove Fire Protection District.

Air temperatures this afternoon at Waukegan Regional Airport is 90°F and rising with a current Heat Index of 99°F. Firefighters are taking heat illness precautions, and a Comfort Bus and Mess Canteen has been dispatched to the scene.

At 12:55 p.m. were Southwest at 14 MPH and gusting to 20 MPH. Wind gusts are forecast to peak to about 24 MPH at 3 PM and to continue blowing from the Southwest throughout the day and night.
