2 rescued at Fire at King's Galleon Hair Care on East Oakton St Near Linden St, Des Plaines
Des Plaines police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 7:34 AM Friday to a report of crash with injuries at 1629 East Oakton Street Des Plaines, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of a fire at a hair care business.
Police on scene reported heavy smoke with one occupant with some pets evacuating by 7:36 a.m..
Engine 62 crew on arrival reported heavy fire. -- 25x75 commercial structure with heavy fire in the rear. Engine 62 took the hydrant at Linden and Oakton.
There was a report of possibly one person trapped at 7:40 a.m.
Crews entered the front side of the building at 7:41 a.m. but were concerned about being blocked by the fire at the rear of the business.
Police were helping a fire victim that was in the burning building at Oakton Street and White Street by 7:47 a.m. Wheeling Fire Department Ambulance 23 was assigned to meet that person. Patient contact reported by 7:55 a.m.
Fire was declared out by 7:50 a.m.
