Armed Robber Takes Woman's Purse on South Goebbert Road, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police responded about 1:39 PM Sunday to an armed robbery in the block of 2300 South Goebbert Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender displayed a gun and demanded the victim hand over her purse.

The offender is described as a black male, in his 20's, 6'0, with a medium build, wearing a dark blue hooded jacket, jeans and a knit winter hat.

There is possibly a police sketch of the suspect, but it is not yet available.

It does not appear that Arlington Heights Police Department alerted area police departments using the Illinois State Police Emergency Radio Network (ISPERN), which is normally a standard procedure for this type of potentially violent crime.

Normally police use ISPERN when an armed robbery is committed and a description of the offender is available. Bank robberies are consistently reported on ISPERN by Arlington Heights Police Department.

The crime is reported to have occurred on Sunday, January 1, 2017 at 01:38 PM.

The information about the robbery was released by police to the public more than 24 hours after the crime occurred.
