Man Injured When Parked Car He's Exiting Gets Hit Head-On, Drury Ln North of Suffield Dr, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 3:41 PM Sunday to a report of crash with injuries at 2610 North Drury Lane Arlington Heights, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a man was down on the ground after being hit while exiting a parked car.

The driver of a Jeep SUV was parked in the street next to the driver's side of the passenger's car -- a black Honda Accord, which was parked northbound at the curb. The passenger was getting out of the parked Jeep SUV -- also headed northbound -- when the Jeep SUV was struck head-on by a Nissan Rogue. The driver was apparently distracted while multi-tasking and driving.

The driver of the Nissan Rogue southbound on Dury Lane when he hit a Jeep SUV head-on while the passenger was getting out on the passenger side of the Jeep SUV. The passenger -- using a cane -- was injured when he was knocked to the ground by the open door on the Jeep SUV and as he was pushed into his own car. The passenger's Honda Accord -- the third vehicle -- was not struck by the Jeep or the Rogue.

The passenger was transported to Northwest Community Hospital. On initial assessment by paramedics, the injuries were not believed to be immediately life-threatening.
