Vehicular Hijacking Suspects Encountered, 1 Shot on Bishop Ford Expressway Near 130th St, Chicago
Dolton and Hazel Crest police 2:19 PM Tuesday responded to a vehicular hijacking with a police-involved shooting at 41.658320, -87.587074 (Inbound I-94 and 130th Street, Chicago). Police received a report of an armed vehicular hijacking in Hazel Crest. Dolton police spotted the victim's vehicle with the suspects on the Bishop Ford Expressway. Chicago police and Illinois State Police were also on the scene.
The suspects stopped the vehicle and bailed out of the vehicle, and then fled on foot near 100th Street.
One of the suspects was involved with a shootout with police and was shot. He was transported to an area hospital by Calumet City Fire Department firefighter/paramedics.
Police continued to search for a male/black subject, wearing a white T-Shirt and blue jeans, and possibly armed.
The subject still at large was last seen westbound from I-94 between the Steel Bridge and 130th Street.
Chicago Fire Department was also on the scene and reported a possible active shooter situation with a lot of police activity about 2:35 p.m., following a report of a person shot on the outbound side of the Bishop Ford Expressway. Engine 80's crew reported the gunshot victim was discovered on the inbound side of the Bishop Ford Expressway. Chicago Ambulance 5, Engine 80 and Battalion 22.
Calumet City Fire Department's ambulance was also on the scene, and transported the gunshot victim to a nearby hospital.
Traffic on the inbound Bishop Ford Expressway was backed up to 168th Street at 4:45 p.m.
