Stranger Offers Child Student a Ride to School on Boxwood Dr East of Randhurst, Mount Prospect
Mount Prospect police responded about 9:10 AM Thursday to a report of attempted child luring in the block of 1100 Boxwood Drive Mount Prospect, IL. Police received a report that on Thursday, April 12, 2018, at approximately 9:10 AM an 11 year-old student was walking in the 1100 block of Boxwood Drive when a gray colored four-door sedan pulled alongside the juvenile. The driver of the sedan asked if the juvenile wanted to get into the car for a ride to school. The juvenile told the driver no and began running toward school.
The juvenile immediately notified a faculty member upon reaching school. The school called 9-1-1 and officers searched the area for the gray colored four-door sedan, but were unable to locate it. The driver of the vehicle is described as an Asian male with light colored skin, spiked hair who spoke with an Asian accent. The four-door sedan was last seen traveling northbound on Wheeling Road towards Euclid Avenue.
Mount Prospect police did not specify whether the child was male or female, and did not specify the student's school.
The Mount Prospect Police Department urges parents and children living in this area to be extra vigilant in the days ahead and to call 9-1-1 immediately should a subject and/or vehicle matching these descriptions be observed. The Mount Prospect Police Department announced they will have an increased presence in the area.
Additionally, the Mount Prospect Police Department urges parents to use this incident as an opportunity to review safety rules with their children and to report any suspicious activity to the police immediately by calling 9-1-1.
