VIDEO: Hit-and-Run Driver Leaves Pickup Truck in Front Door at House on North Dryden Ave Near Charles St, Arlington Heights
Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 12:13 AM Saturday to a report of a crash into a house with driver fleeing his crashed pickup truck. No injuries inside the house, 1520 North Dryden Avenue Arlington Heights, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a pickup truck crashed into a house and that the truck appeared to be empty. No people in the house were reported injured.
Police and firefighter/paramedics arrived to find no driver with a red full-size pickup truck -- a 2005 Dodge RAM 4X4. The pickup truck driver managed to destroy the home's front entrance -- a high-end styled double door entry with a styled frame with windows. Tire tracks ran nearly perpendicular from street to front door on the well-maintained property
-- just missing a curbside mailbox.
On the scene it appeared the K-9 unit, tracking the driver, followed a scent westbound on Charles Street and into backyards on Charles Street. The driver was not immediately found, but police continued to check for the driver's whereabouts using the registration connected to the pickup truck. The driver was not located as of about 1:15 a.m.
Firefighters checked for hazards and requested a representative from the Village of Arlington Heights Building Department respond to the scene to check the house for structural damage.
Prospect Heights police assisted Arlington Heights police with a search of the neighborhood that borders Prospect Heights.
