Neighborhood Power Failure; Electrical Generator Failure at Paylocity on Wilke Rd, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 6:18 PM Friday to a report of smoke coming from the basement of a commercial building where Paylocity is located at 3850 North Wilke Road Arlington Heights, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of smoke coming from the northwest corner of the basement of the commercial building.

Ambulance 4's crew on arrival reported light smoke showing from the northwest corner of the building.

Firefighters entered the basement and discovered a malfunctioning electrical backup generator. Firefighters resolved the hazard and ventilated the area.

The incident was upgraded to a working fire response before firefighters entered the basement. The extra firefighters were returned when the malfunctioning generator was discovered.

A large neighborhood-size power outage was reported in the area. ComEd reported about 626 customers were without power.
