Investigation of Fall from Apartment Building on Miner St Between Evergreen Ave and Arlington Heights Rd, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 2:56 PM Saturday to a report that a victim fell from a third floor "balcony" at 200 North Arlington Heights Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a person fell or jumped from a third floor balcony, but it appeared the person fell or jumped from a window opening.

Witnesses on the street said that a woman died in an apparent suicide attempt. As is standard operating procedure, police were not able to provide any details on the scene.

A large amount of blood was visible on a sidewalk/driveway near the north wall of the apartment building, and the loading dock for the building. Directly above, a window was visible with an opening created by a cut in a window screen. Police measured the distance from the window opening to the ground below. The window appeared to be part of a second or third floor apartment unit.

Police appeared to be investigating a scene where a death occurred or where a person suffered life-threatening injuries. The Major Case Assistance Team (MCAT) crime scene van was not dispatched to the scene, so a crime was probably initially ruled out.

Miner Street between Evergreen Avenue and Arlington Heights Road was closed for much of Saturday afternoon during the investigation. The north sidewalk of Miner Street was open. The south sidewalk of Miner Street was closed.
