Rollover Crash into Tree on Kennicott South of Palatine Rd, Arlington Heights -- Apparent DUI Driver
Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 11:22 PM Sunday to a report of a rollover crash with injuries at 42.108852, -87.995128 (Kennicott Boulevard and Palatine Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics arrived to find a Hyundai sedan upside down that had crashed with a tree and rolled over on the west side of Kennicott Boulevard, just south of Palatine Road (in the block of 1800 North Kennicott).
Firefighter/paramedics on arrival reported there was no entrapment and the driver was out of the vehicle.
The young adult male driver refused medical transportation, and was later observed getting a field sobriety test by an Arlington Heights police officer. It was initially unknown whether the driver submitted to a portable breathalyzer test (PBT).
Following the field sobriety test, the driver was handcuffed and transported to a police holding area -- apparently suspected of DUI.
A parkway tree was destroyed and a Groot trash contained was damaged in the crash.
The DUI charge is not yet officially confirmed by the Arlington Heights Police Department ... DEVELOPING ...
The crash was the second crash this weekend involving possible DUI charges.
