Offender Points Gun at Victim in Jewel-Osco Lot in Arlington Heights, Attempts to Steal Items in Victims Car

Arlington Heights police responded about 9:01 PM Thursday to an armed robbery at the Jewel-Osco parking lot, 1860 South Arlington Heights Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender pointed a dark colored, semi-automatic handgun at the victim in the grocery store parking lot.

The victim was able to distance himself from the offender. The offender then browsed through the victim's vehicle and found nothing of value before leaving the scene.

Unknown offender was described as a male/black, tall, skinny, approximately 25 years-old with medium length dreadlocks, and wearing a two toned dark colored top.

Two other male black subjects were observed inside the vehicle. The offenders were last seen leaving the area in a black Chevrolet Sedan with an Illinois license plate.

The crime is reported to have occurred on Thursday, May 23, 2019 between 7:35 PM and 9:00 PM. The elapsed time range including the time the crime could have occurred is 1:25 (hours: minutes).

Initially there was no explanation or confirmation why the time range of the crime 85 minutes, or why Arlington Heights police took over four days to release the information regarding an index crime.
