Extra Alarm Fire on Michigan Ave Just South of 112th St, Chicago

Chicago police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 3:30 AM Friday to a report of a commercial building fire at 11201 South Michigan Avenue Chicago, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of commercial building fire at 112th St and Edgebrooke Avenue, where fire was showing out of the back of the building.

When Chicago firefighters arrived, fire was breaking through the roof andfire out the rear of the 3rd floor. Firefighters were operating defensively by 3:37 a.m. and activated a Still and Box Alarm.

3-11 ALARM AT 4:28 AM.

No injuries were initially reported, and the 5-6-story building was reported to be vacant.

Heavy smoke was visible for miles overnight. Winds were reported to be Northeast about 3-5 MPH and North at 6 MPH at Midway International Airport. Smoke appeared to be moving northeast to southwest locally at the fire scene.
