Toyota Sedan Flips After Hitting Parked Ford Explorer on Cleveland Ave, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 10:23 PM Tuesday to a report of a rollover crash with injuries in the block of 800 South Cleveland Avenue Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a vehicle crash involved a rollover and that the driver was unconscious inside the vehicle (not confirmed).

Neighbors rushed to help the motorist before firefighter/paramedics arrived. The patient was extricated within a few minutes and immediately transferred to Ambulance 1, and then transported to Northwest Community Hospital.

The injured driver was driving a Toyota Sedan northbound on Cleveland Avenue when the Toyota hit the left rear wheel of a parked white Ford SUV. The Toyota flipped, cartwheeled and rolled onto the roof.

There was initially no confirmation whether the driver was speeding, distracted or had a medical issue before the crash. Arlington Heights police were investigating the report and writing a report at the scene.

Hillside Towing uprighted the vehicle with no trouble and towed both damaged vehicles with a flatbed tow truck.

Neighbors said they have reported problems with drivers speeding and cutting through on Cleveland Avenue between Central Road and Davis Street. The Speed Limit is posted 25 MPH, and an electronic Speed Limit sign was recently posted for northbound Cleveland Avenue. Some neighbors want better traffic enforcement on Cleveland Avenue, saying neighbors are socially tight group with a lot of children on the block. Some mentioned stop signs for Cleveland Avenue at Orchard Street would be an improvement. There are stop signs for Cleveland Avenue at Rockwell Street further north. The Rockwell Street intersection is about half way between Central Road and Davis Street, but some people think there needs to be better traffic control for people speeding north on Cleveland Avenue from Central Road.
