Eggs Thrown at Cars Parked Overnight on Street During Curb and Sidewalk Repair Belmont Ave, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police received a report about 9:30 AM Monday of vandalism and criminal damage to several vehicles in the block of 1500 North Belmont Avenue Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders criminally damaged about five or six vehicles by throwing eggs at cars that were parked on the street overnight during curb and sidewalk repairs occurring in the neighborhood.

Later, security video was discovered that showed that at least four teens threw eggs at vehicles between 8:40 p.m. and 8:42 p.m. Sunday, April 24, 2022.

There were one or two vehicles connected to the teens. Security video showed one sedan moving slowly southbound on Belmont Avenue toward Lynwood Avenue at 8:40 p.m. Next, a second sedan was traveling southbound at a faster speed -- possibly to catch up with the first vehicle. The vehicles were apparently parked just to the left of the field of view of the camera -- either on Lynwood Avenue or on Belmont Avenue just south of Lynwood Avenue. Less than a minute after the vehicles passed, at least four teens involved in a short conversation were observed on video walking northbound on Belmont Avenue to about the middle of the block. The teens then walked back south out of view of the security camera by 8:42 p.m.




The crime is reported to have occurred at 8:40 p.m. Sunday,
