POLICE TACTICAL RESPONSE TRAVELS THROUGH ARLINGTON HEIGHTS FOR BARRICADED SUBJECT IN STREAMWOOD

A police tactical vehicle passing through Arlington Heights westbound on Palatine Road Sunday morning November 26, 2023, was on a route to a tactical assignment for a barricaded subject in a residential neighborhood in Streamwood southeast of the intersection of Park Boulevard and Streamwood Boulevard.

A citizen tip to CARDINAL NEWS reported that a police van was heading west with lights and sirens activated on Palatine Road through Arlington Heights about 9:50 AM. The van was likely a NIPAS command van or utility van.

The Northern Illinois Police Alarm System (NIPAS) represents a joint venture of suburban municipal police departments in the Chicago metropolitan area.

10:10 AM ... Streamwood firefighters and paramedics working at the scene of an EMS standby for a barricaded subject in the block of Westgate Terrace west of East Ave Streamwood. NIPAS/Police Standby (fire department standby) for a barricaded subject at the request of the police.

NIPAS (SWAT) responded about 9:50 AM.

The incident occurred in a neighborhood of single-family homes.

Streamwood firefighters were also called to the scene at about 11:53 AM at the request of the police to check on an odor of natural gas at a property in the block of 500 Westgate Terrace. The call related to the gas leak was not escalated or upgraded Sunday.
