Theft Of Wallet From Shopping Cart At Goodwill Store On Dryden; Fraudulent Charges Over $7,000 At Target, Arlington Heights, Walmart Palatine

Arlington Heights police received a report about 4:00 PM Wednesday of a theft of a wallet at the Goodwill Store, 1551 North Dryden Avenue Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders took a victim's black Coach bi-fold wallet, valued at $150. The wallet contained $200 cash, various credit cards, several gift cards valued at $400, and a checkbook. The clerk at Goodwill responded by offering to file an in-store report instead of immediately calling the police. The victim called her husband, who immediately called to shut down the credit cards that were in the wallet. The credit cards were used to make fraudulent charges worth several thousand dollars to purchase items at another store. About $4,000 in charges were used to successfully purchase electronics and other items at the Target Store at Rand Road and Thomas Street in Arlington Heights. Quest Church Moving To Campus Life Teen Center At Belmont Ave And Miner St, Arlington Heights

On a "Quest" to a new location! Quest Church is relocating to the Campus Life Teen Center, 112 N. Belmont Avenue, Arlington Heights, beginning June 1. The church previously held services at the Metropolis Performing Arts Centre. The new location provides more space for their gatherings, more availability outside of Sunday mornings, and a better opportunity to reach out to the youth of Arlington Heights. Ed Taylor, lead Pastor for Quest Church, said, "We are excited about the flexibility of this new venue, and the opportunities to reach out to the community that come with this relationship and location." Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 4:39 PM Friday to a report of a car vs lamp post crash at Evergreen Avenue and Miner Street Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics discovered a car crashed into a lamp post on the northwest corner of Evergreen Avenue and Miner Street in front of Uptown Cafe. The crash did not damage the restaurant. A witness at the scene reported that the driver's vehicle was traveling erratically near Belmont Avenue and Miner Street and was up on a lawn at one point. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a pickup truck crashed into an apartment building. Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 1:48 AM Tuesday to a report of a restaurant fire at Salsa 17, 17 West Campbell Street Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that smoke and fire was showing through the roof after a passerby saw the smoke and flames and called 9-1-1. South winds were blowing heavy smoke across Campbell Street. Police were first on the scene and reported smoke showing and fire through the roof at the rear of the building. Firefighters also reported fire though the roof and immediately went to work on an interior attack. Firefighters knocked the main body of fire within about 12 minutes. Palatine police received a report about 7:51 AM Saturday of a residential burglary in the block of 1300 block of West Windhill Drive Palatine, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders forced entry to the front door of a residence. Once inside, the offender(s) removed jewelry boxes from a master bedroom closet and spread the contents across the bed. A dresser in the master bedroom and a dresser in a separate bedroom were also disturbed. The total loss of property is unknown at this time. The crime is reported to have occurred on May 10, 2014 between 6:30 a.m. and 7:50 a.m. The case is under investigation with Palatine Police Department. Streamwood police responded about 11:15 AM Tuesday to Streamwood High School, 701 W Schaumburg Rd Streamwood , IL. Police received a report of a fight in progress and Streamwood High School administrators then put the school in a "hold in place" mode Tuesday afternoon. At least 20 police vehicles were on the scene. The fight quickly calmed down when police arrived. Six students were arrested, no known weapons were used, and no significant injuries were reported. Neither police nor the school district have offered details on the nature of the fight or any details of the arrests, but CBS 2 Chicago is reporting the fight was a "racially-based" lunchroom brawl. Residential Burglary At Apartment On Winslowe Dr, Palatine

Palatine police received a report about 4:28 PM Thursday of a residential burglary at in the block of 1300 North Winslowe Drive, Palatine, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders made entry into an apartment residence, possibly through an unsecured entrance. The victim indicated a sliding door and window were left unlocked. When the victim returned home, $500 cash was discovered missing from a dresser drawer, and a jar containing about $40 in cash and change was missing from a dresser top. The victim also reported several items missing from their patio including a plastic bucket containing paint brushes and rollers and a plastic chair (unknown value).
