Wallet Theft from Shopping Cart at Trader Joe's on Rand Rd, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police received a report about 4:18 PM Tuesday of a wallet theft at Trader Joe's, 17 West Rand Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown female offender unlawfully took the victim's wallet from a shopping cart. The offender distracted the victim by asking the victim's questions while inside the store and took the wallet from the victim's cart while the victim was distracted.

The victim's credit card, which was contained inside the wallet, was later used fraudulently at another department store.

The offender is described as female/unspecified in her mid-late twenties, approximately 5'8" tall, medium build with dyed blond hair and wearing a black sweatshirt, black leggings and carrying a large black purse.

The crime is reported to have occurred on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 between 3:45 PM and 4:17 PM. The elapsed time range including the time the crime could have occurred is 0:32 (hours: minutes).

Squatter(s) Suspect in Vacant House on Dryden Place Near Miner St, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police responded about 12:01 AM Tuesday to a report of criminal trespassing in the block of 200 North Dryden Place Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders unlawfully entered a vacant residence by breaking a handle to the front door. Apparently the offender(s) were unlawfully squatting inside the vacant residence.

Wallet Theft at Best Buy on Palatine Rd, Arlington Heights

Theft Credit Cards from Purse at Corner Bakery Café on Rand Rd, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police received a report about 4:01 PM Saturday of a theft at Corner Bakery Café, 470 East Rand Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders unlawfully took credit cards from the victim's purse while the purse was hanging on the back of a chair. The theft occurred while the victim was eating lunch. The credit cards were later used fraudulently for purchase(s) totaling approximately $1,700.

Retail Theft of $4K in Merchandise Reported at Ulta Beauty on Rand Rd, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police received a report about 2:31 PM Monday of a theft at Ulta Beauty, 13 West Rand Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that four unknown offenders concealed merchandise for sale on their persons before leaving the store without paying for the merchandise.

The offenders were described as ...

#1) Male/black, medium build, approximately 20 years-old, wearing a mustard colored hoodie with "USA" printed in dark letters on the front, black pants and dark colored shoes.

#2) Female/black, thin build, approximately 20 years-old with short hair and wearing a multi-colored headband, black sweatshirt with small orange lettering on the front, pink pants and dark colored winter boots.

#3) Female/black, medium build, approximately 20 years-old with long dark hair and wearing a black sweatshirt, a gold pendant necklace, dark-colored pants and dark colored shoes.

#4) Female/black with long dark hair and wearing a white jacket with large letters down the sleeve, faded and torn blue jeans, white shoes, and carrying a large tote bag.

The total retail value of the merchandise is pending store inventory, but a preliminary investigation indicates a loss in excess of approximately $4,000.

The offenders were seen parked in a handicapped parking stall on the property in a gray Chevrolet Impala with an Illinois license plate.

The crime is reported to have occurred on Monday, October 7, 2019 between 2:22 PM and 2:30 PM. The elapsed time range including the time the crime could have occurred is 0:08 (hours: minutes).

Commercial Burglary, ATM Taken from Business on Lake St, Melrose Park

Arlington Heights police received a report about 3:26 AM Wednesday of a commercial burglary at in the block of 2000 Lake Street Melrose Park, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders burglarized a business in the block of 2000 or 2200 West Lake Street in Melrose Park. An offender or offenders removed an ATM machine from the business.

Police are investigating the case following sighting of a black Hyundai Sonata and a male/black occupant.

The black Hyundai Sonata was last seen eastbound on I-290 from 9th Ave with speeds over 109 MPH.

Driver Flees Hit-and-Run Injury Crash at Route 59 and Route 72, South Barrington

South Barrington police and area firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:04 PM Friday to a hit-and-run crash with personal injury at Route 59 and Route 72 South Barrington, IL. Police received a report that an offending driver left the scene of a personal injury crash.

The offending driver is described as a male/black driver.

The offending vehicle was described as an orange 2019 Jeep Wrangler. Damage on the offending Jeep Wrangler is reported to be at the driver's side front bumper.

The vehicle was last seen northbound on Route 59 from Route 72.

Traffic seems to be fairly normal at the intersection, according to th Google Maps traffic layer.

Police, Paramedics Respond to Scene of Alleged Domestic Battery, Arrest Suspect on Fernandez Ave North of White Oak St, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 7:25 AM Tuesday to a report of a domestic battery at a home on South Fernandez Avenue near the intersection of Fernandez Avenue and Magnolia Street Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of a domestic battery victim at a home on Fernandez Avenue, and that the victim of the domestic escaped in a vehicle down the street, closer to White Oak Street.

Police and firefighter/paramedics were told that the offender was still on scene, and multiple police units responded to the scene.

Firefighter/paramedics staged nearby until police secured the scene by about 7:30 a.m.

Police arrested John A. Matassa of the block of 1100 South Fernandez Avenue at 8:45 a.m. Matassa was charged with domestic battery after he was accused of committing a domestic battery at 3:00 a.m. Tuesday.

Reminder: All suspects are considered until proven guilty in a court of law.
