Northwest Community Healthcare's Pho Joins Illinois Health Partners
Expansion Creates One of the Broadest Networks for HMO Patients in Illinois
Northwest Community Healthcare's (NCH) Physician Hospital Organization (PHO) has agreed to join Illinois Health Partners (IHP), effective immediately.
More than 500 physicians who represent Northwest Community Health Partners, NCH's PHO, and NCH's Clinical Integration Program will be joining the IHP network, which will expand to be one of the broadest systems of primary and specialty care physicians who care for HMO patients in Illinois. Through this agreement, IHP will represent 1,800 affiliated physicians and serve more than 110,000 patients in west, southwest and northwest suburbs of Chicago with the potential to add additional physicians to the network in the future.
"This partnership is an important opportunity and will allow NCH to remain independent while growing as a competitive, efficient and high quality system of care," said Stephen Scogna, President and CEO of NCH. "NCH is dedicated to keeping our community healthy. This alliance helps to enhance our partnership with physicians, expand the resources available to our HMO patients, and better manage our community's health and associated costs," said Scogna.
In addition, NCH will collaborate with IHP to develop clinical initiatives and identify quality performance measures that translate to direct improvements in clinical care.
"This is an exciting expansion of Illinois Health Partners," says Pam Davis, System CEO, Edward-Elmhurst Healthcare. "We're proud to be partnering with NCH as we all work together to improve the quality of care patients receive and control costs in this era of healthcare reform."
"The addition of NCH enables Illinois Health Partners to have a greater impact on the healthcare experience of patients across the suburban region," says Mike Kasper, CEO of DuPage Medical Group. "The growing number of high quality physicians and facilities in the IHP network will allow us to reach the ultimate goal of IHP, to offer a better healthcare experience for patients – one that enhances quality, value and access to as many patients as possible."
DuPage Medical Group and Edward Hospital were the founding joint venture members when IHP was created in 2011. ELMCARE, the physician hospital organization which includes 430 affiliated and independent physicians on the Medical Staff at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, joined Illinois Health Partners in January 2014.

Another Crash Over The Route 53 Bridge -- This Time At Palatine Rd, Palatine
Palatine police, Illinois State Police and Palatine firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:53 PM Tuesday to a report of a rollover crash with injuries at 42.110194,-88.003646 (Route 53 and Palatine Road Palatine, IL). Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a vehicle crash involved a rollover on southbound Route 53 at Palatine Road.
Firefighters were expecting the vehicle to be up on Route 53, but discovered an overturned car in the westbound lanes of Palatine Road, just west of the overpass. The vehicle apparently was southbound on Route 53 and fell off the bridge or rolled down the embankment on the west side of Route 53, and fell upside down on the westbound lanes of Palatine Road.
Firefighter/paramedics found one female victim inside the car and began extrication operations. Firefighters immediately stabilized the car, and charged a hose line for standby in case of fire. Firefighter/paramedics went to work on patient care, and another crew worked on extrication.
Firefighters extricated the victim by about 10:11 p.m. and transported her to Northwest Community Hospital. Firefighters also checked the embankment area for any possibility of any victim(s) ejected from the vehicle. The victim inside the vehicle was the only victim found.
Arlington Heights police blocked Palatine Road at Kennicott Drive, Illinois State Police blocked the ramp from northbound Route 53 to westbound Palatine Road, and Palatine police blocked the ramp from southbound Route 53 to westbound Palatine Road.
One witness told police that the driver was westbound on Palatine Road and drove up the ramp to southbound Route 53, but then drove down the embankment. Another witness told police the victim was actually on Route 53 for awhile after the ramp, and then came crashing down onto Palatine Road.

New Building And Configuration Approved For Arlington Heights Mcdonald's Across From Buffalo Grove High School On Dundee Rd
If all goes well a new McDonald's building with an improved look, more efficient design, and safer design will be up by the beginning of the 2014-2015 school year in the Fall at 15 East Dundee in Arlington Heights.
The new McDonald's building will consist of the new brand image architecture from McDonald's corporation.
The building will consist of a a brick facade and an arcade wall with a tile material that contrasts the primary brick field around windows and doors.
The building will have a full wrap mechanical screening facility of corrugated metal which coordinates with the trellis on the drive-thru side (east side). The building will also have a decorative tower on the east side near the drive-thru side entrance.
There is a pay window, a fast-forward window, and a delivery window on the drive-thru side.
The new building will also be constructed closer to the west side of the property with a wide sidewalk that helps prevent students and pedestrians from walking near the inbound drive-thru area.
There will be a side-by-side order system with two vehicles able to order at the same time, and then merge into the drive for the pickup windows. The length of the vehicle cue is determined with studies to be about 62 percent smaller with the modern side-by-side drive-thru configuration.
Drive-thru traffic has grown from about 30-40 percent to about 80 percent currently.
No zoning variations were needed for parking.
The landscaping design is being worked to prevent youths from being able to congregate and prevent youths from hiding from police patrols in area. Input was received from the Arlington Heights Police Department regarding security issues. Video monitoring was also discussed as an option to remedy any landscaping issues that might facilitate undesirable congregating at the restaurant.
There is no outdoor seating planned at this location.
Delivery trucks will offload on the west side of the building, and will block the inner lane of the drive-thru during offloading.
Construction will hopefully begin in May 2014 and be completed by the beginning of high school in late August or September 2014.

Deangelo Fountain, 18, Arrested In Park Ridge Amber Alert Kidnapping, Carjacking
Park Ridge police announced at a Saturday morning press conference that they have arrested the carjacking and kidnapping suspect from the incident that occurred Thursday afternoon.
On Thursday, February 20, 2014 at approximately 12:19 p.m. Park Ridge Police responded to a 911 call of a carjacking in the area of the 1700 block of Good Avenue. While responding, officers were made aware of the fact that a five-year-old child was in the back seat of the vehicle. Responding officers conducted a preliminary investigation, a search of the surrounding area and established a command post. In addition, radio broadcasts were issued to neighboring jurisdictions. After obtaining the requisite information, members from the department contacted the Illinois State Police and worked with them to issue an AMBER Alert. As officers and investigators from communities all across the northwest suburbs continued the search and investigation, Skokie Police received a call from a resident at approximately 2:15 p.m. that he thought he found a vehicle and child in an alley in the 5200 Block of Hoffman, Skokie Illinois which matched the description of the one he heard on the AMBER Alert. Skokie Police officers immediately responded and confirmed that the vehicle was there and the five-year-old victim was unharmed and safe.
Once the victim was located, all efforts were focused on finding the offender. Park Ridge Police received dozens of tips and phone calls from neighboring police agencies as well as the public. One of those tips led investigators to the offender, Deangelo Fountain, a male/black suspect, age 18 of 1315 Fowler, Evanston, Illinois.
About 11:45 a.m. Thursday Des Plaines police were called to a storage facility in the 1800 of Busse Highway to a report of a suspicious person, who was asking for a plastic bag to put over himself because it was raining. When Des Plaines police arrived, the suspicious man was gone, but police reviewed video surveillance images from the storage facility, which identified Deangelo Fountain.
Police also received information that Deangelo Fountain had also been in an altercation with a teacher at Metro Prep school at 2525 East Oakton Street in unincorporated Arlington Heights, near the intersection of Oakton Street and Elmhurst Road in Des Plaines. The school is in the jurisdiction of the Cook County Sheriff's Police Department, and is about 4 miles diagonal to the crime scene, and about 5.5 miles via walking along roadways.
Investigators located Fountain and brought him to the Park Ridge Police department for questioning Thursday evening, February 20, 2014. As the investigation continued, and after conferring with representatives from the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, the following charges were placed against Deangelo Fountain:
Aggravated Vehicular Hijacking- Class X Felony
Aggravated Kidnapping- Class X Felony
Unlawful Possession of a Stolen Vehicle- Class 2 Felony
Deangelo Fountain was taken for a bond hearing this morning.
