Palatine police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 5:30 PM Monday to a report of a hit-and-run crash with injuries at Dundee Road and Hicks Road Palatine, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a car hit a motorcycle and left the scene. The offending vehicle was described as a black 2-door sedan that was last seen southbound on Hicks Road from Dundee Road. The motorcyclist apparently had minor injuries or no injuries. Newborn Calf "Arlington" Born At 5:00 Am At Frontier Days, Recreation Park

11:01 PM Sunday . Mo Beeler, owner and operator of M & A Stables "Pony Rides & Petting Zoo" was walking his dogs about 5:00 a.m. when he heard his pregnant cow let out a loud Moo. The wasn't due for another two weeks, but Mo was pretty sure he knew what was happening. He rushed back to his petting zoo at Belmont Avenue and Miner Street and discovered a calf was already born. The mother was very protective of the newborn calf, and initially he couldn't get close enough to determine the sex of the newborn. Later in the day he determined the calf was a female. He named her "Arlington" in honor of her birthplace. The calf was up walking by Sunday afternoon -- sometimes with a little help from her mother . Later in the day, anyone bringing a dog near the pen would get an intense stare from the mother -- at one point charging the edge of the pen in the direction of a dog standing too close for comfort (see the end of the video). Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 12:20 PM Sunday to rescue a dog from a hot car near Hawthorne Street and Walnut Avenue Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a dog was accidentally locked in a car on Hawthorne Street, just west of Walnut Avenue. Firefighters from Engine 2 crew used special tools to unlock a car Sunday to rescue a small dog that was accidentally locked in the car. No damage to the vehicle, and no harm to the dog. Air temperature was climbing through the neighbors. Before firefighters arrived, residents cooled down the car with a garden house. House Fire On Talk Oaks Drive Just North Of Route 22, Long Grove

Lake County Sheriff and Long Grove firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:15 PM Friday to a house fire, 5421 Tall Oaks Drive Long Grove, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a bedroom was on fire, and that the homeowner was trying to fight the fire from the rear with a garden hose. First Long Grove firefighters on the scene reported a single family home with heavy fire through the roof. Long Grove's battalion chief upgraded the fire to a working fire response at about 9:23 p.m. Firefighters had a good knock down from the outside by about 9:30 p.m. and were working on an interior attack. Searches were clear by about 9:42 PM. The fire was reported under control by about 10:09 PM. At 10:09 PM firefighters reported no visible hot spots and were beginning overhaul. Elk Grove Village police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 3:55 AM Saturday to a hit-and-run crash with personal injuries at 208 Washington Square Elk Grove Village, IL. Police received a report that a car hit a house in the 1000 block of Cypress. The offending vehicle was described as a white sedan. The vehicle had rear-end damage and was located in front of an apartment at 208 Washington Square. Two seriously injured passengers and the driver were located near the vehicle. All were transported to Alexian Brothers Medical Center. Elk Grove Village had three ambulances on the scene, and Wood Dale paramedics were the fourth ambulance to the incident -- responding to the area of Clearmont School, 280 Clearmont Drive.
