Large Power Outages in Northwest Suburbs Near Arlington Heights

High winds brought down large branches in Arlington Heights, Palatine, Mount Prospect, Rolling Meadows, Schaumburg and Prospect Heights starting about 1:30 p.m. At least one tree was uprooted on Rammer near Kensington in Arlington Heights near Prospect High School. Arlington Heights and Mount Prospect Tree uprooted in backyard in the block of 0-99 North Rammer — the tree brought down power line. An energized, arcing line was also reported on this block. Several large branches caused partial or complete blockages of road, including rammer, Evanston, Grove, and Gregory. Mom, Son Safely Evacuate Acura MDX As Flames Break Out Inside SUV While Driving Near Euclid Ave and Hickory Ave, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:12 AM Friday to a report of a vehicle fire in the block of Hickory Avenue and Euclid Avenue Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a car was on fire. Firefighters on arrival by 9:16 a.m. reported a fully-involved car. Firefighters hit the fire with a hand line and knocked down the bulk of the fire from about 35 feet away from the vehicle. Firefighters then masked up with self-contained breathing apparatus and approached the Acura MDX SUV that had been burning with a hot and bright fire. One firefighter created a water inlet by the side of the hood using a Hurst Tool spreader to spread the side of the hood away from the frame. Construction Worker Seriously Hurt by Circular Saw at Mainline Sewer Project on Campbell St West of Vail Ave, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 12:18 PM Thursday to a construction accident at Campbell Street and Vail Avenue Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a construction suffered a laceration. Upon arrival police and firefighter/paramedics discovered that a construction worker was injured by a portable circular saw on Campbell Street just west of Vail Avenue. The worker was seriously injured with significant blood loss and was rushed to Northwest Community Hospital with extra firefighter/paramedics on board with Ambulance 1's crew. Police began an investigation of the scene, but released the scene after learning that the construction worker's injuries were initially believed to be non-life-threatening. Possible Freon Leak or Other Refrigerant Gas Leak, Evacuation at Mariano's on Hicks Rd, Palatine

Palatine police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 12:23 PM Wednesday to a report of smoke in the building after hearing a popping noise at Mariano's, 545 North Hicks Road Palatine, Il. Police first on the scene reported there was possibly a Freon leak from a cooler. People were already being evacuated when police arrived, and police continued to order evacuation. Firefighters reported no smoke showing on arrival. The situation was quickly secured following evacuation, and firefighters were evaluating the indoor air environment for safety. By 12:33 p.m. firefighters were not aware of any injuries. Their initial assessment by 12:33 p.m. was that the indoor environmental air was safe, but firefighters were continuing to investigate. SUV Goes Airborne Hits Semi-Truck Head-on WB Palatine Rd West of Rand Rd, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 4:30 PM Monday to a report of crash with injuries near Palatine Road and Rand Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a head-on collision occurred involving and SUV and a semi-trailer truck. Police and firefighter/paramedics arrived on the scene and discovered a red Subaru SUV crashed head-on into a Kenworth semi-trailer truck tanker. A female driver in the Subaru was injured. The driver of the Subaru was transported to Northwest Community Hospital by Arlington Heights Fire Department firefighter/paramedics. Police and firefighters learned that the tanker truck was hauling waste water from a food plant in Wheeling, and transporting it to a facility in Rockford. Minivan Rolls onto Roof After Crash with White Sedan at Northwest Highway and Ridge Avenue, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 3:46 PM Saturday to a report of a rollover crash with injuries at Route 14 and Ridge Avenue Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that one person was still in a minivan that was rolled over. Firefighter/paramedics were able to remove the female driver from the vehicle out the driver's side door opening in a short time. Arlington Heights firefighter/paramedics from Ambulance 1's crew transported the woman to Northwest Community Hospital. She was initially believed to have injuries that were not life-threatening. According to witnesses at the scene, a white sedan was westbound on Northwest Highway (US 14) and struck a minivan that was northbound on Ridge Avenue/Walnut Avenue. Arlington Heights police received a report about 5:01 AM Friday of criminal damage to vehicle at The Residences apartment parking lot, 2170 South Goebbert Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders criminally damaged the victim's covered 2003 Suzuki GSX600 motorcycle while it was parked in the apartment complex parking lot. The cover was removed from the vehicle by the offender(s) before the damage occurred. The cost to repair the damage was unknown at the time of the police report. The crime is reported to have occurred between Thursday, June 13, 2019 at 10:00 PM and Friday, June 14, 2019 at 5:00 AM.
