Severe Thunderstorm Warning

Severe Thunderstorm Watch

Weather radar indicated a strong line of thunderstorms heading south in southern Wisconsin. At about 3:55 p.m. storms were just entering the northern border of Racine County. At 3:40 p.m. Racine, Wisconsin was placed under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning. As the line of thunderstorms is heading south, the radar indicates thunderstorm cells are developing westward. These storms would likely enter the northwest suburbs of Chicago by 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Our forecast area was placed under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch at 2:10 p.m.

TEMPERATURES HAVE RISEN TO NEAR OR A BIT ABOVE 90 DEGREES ACROSS
THE AREA AS OF EARLY AFTERNOON. COMBINED WITH DEWPOINTS IN THE
70S...HEAT INDEX VALUES WILL TOP OUT AT BETWEEN 100 AND 105
DEGREES THIS AFTERNOON AS TEMPERATURES RISE A FEW MORE DEGREES.
HOT WEATHER SAFETY PRECAUTIONS SHOULD BE TAKEN FOR ANYONE SPENDING
A PROLONGED PERIOD OF TIME OUTDOORS THROUGH THE AFTERNOON.

THE HOT AND HUMID AIRMASS IN PLACE AHEAD OF A COLD FRONT PUSHING
SOUTHWARD WILL LIKELY SET THE STAGE FOR A BROKEN LINE OF
THUNDERSTORMS MID TO LATE THIS AFTERNOON INTO THIS EVENING. STRONG
INSTABILITY COULD ALLOW FOR A FEW OF THE MOST INTENSE STORMS TO
BECOME SEVERE AND PRODUCE DAMAGING WIND GUSTS AND LARGE HAIL...AS
WELL AS FREQUENT CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING AND TORRENTIAL
DOWNPOURS. BE ALERT FOR THE POSSIBILITY OF SEVERE WEATHER LATER
TODAY INTO THIS EVENING.

Arlington Heights Designated "Green Power Community" By Epa

The USEPA has designated Arlington Heights as a Green Power Community for its use of solar power at the Downtown bike shelter along with using 100% green power, which is produced by wind generation, to furnish electrical needs to some of the Village's sanitary sewer lift stations and smaller facilities. All residents and small businesses that participate in the electrical aggregation program receive their energy supply from 100% wind generation.

Green power is electricity produced from "environmentally preferable renewable resources" such as wind, solar, geothermal, biogas, biomass and low-impact hydro. The Village joined the Green Power Partnership as a way to show its commitment to green power and to demonstrate environmental leadership. The use of green power reduces the environmental impacts associated with conventional electricity use.

Signs recognizing Arlington Heights as a Green Power Community will soon be displayed in a few locations in the Village. To learn more about Green Power initiatives, click here (http://www.epa.gov/greenpower/communities/index.htm).

Chicago-Based Company Releases Financial Education Program For Young Adults

Financial Education of America, LLC announces release of Futurebuck course to increase financial literacy in young adults

CHICAGO- Financial Education of America, LLC announces the release of Futurebuck, an online education course designed to teach young adults about financial, credit and debt management. Through a series of ten short, interactive video modules, the program covers essential financial topics such as credit cards, student loans and budget and money management. In light of the 2008 financial crisis, increasing problems with social security and impending $1 trillion student loan bubble, financial literacy is critical for any young adult. The program will be given out free of charge. To access the program, the user must register on the website (www.futurebuck.com) and use coupon code "100thanks."
"Financial literacy has always been important, but in today's challenging financial environment, young adults need to learn life's financial skills sooner rather than later," said Bob Reotutar, President of Financial Education of America, LLC, creator of Futurebuck. "Young adults often go to their parents to learn about finances, but parents are often too busy. Also, many schools do not offer courses in this area. Our program is ideal for students because we teach the important lessons of financial, credit and debt management and provide young adults with the necessary financial skills that they will use for the rest of their lives."

Futurebuck is a unique program created for young adults, by young adults. Because young adults are increasingly busy with school, work and other activities, Futurebuck teaches young adults the important financial topics in less than three hours and allows them to complete the program on their own schedule. The course modules are broken down into 4-7 minute video segments so students can stop and continue the course at any time. The program also includes quizzes at the end of each module to reinforce the course's lessons.

Financial Education of America LLC is located in Arlington Heights at 200 North Arlington Heights Road, Suite 215.
