Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders removed the victim's red purse from the front seat of her vehicle while she was loading groceries into the rear of the vehicle. The red purse contained $105.00 USC, credit cards, and the victim's drivers license.

The offender(s) also used one of the victim's credit cards to unlawfully make a purchase.

Police and firefighter/paramedics initially received a report that a driver was trapped in an SUV that hit a parked car on Northwest Highway at Grandt's Shell.

Witnesses said the driver still had his foot on the accelerator with the engine revving after his SUV crashed into a parked car.

Mechanics from Grandt's Auto Repair came to the driver's aid until firefighter/paramedics arrived.

The driver possibly had a medical issued before his SUV, traveling on eastbound Northwest Highway, crossed into oncoming lanes and crashed into a parked car on the opposite side of the road.

The driver was transported to Northwest Community Hospital. No gas pumps were hit, and the gas station and auto repair center continued full business operations.

Park Ridge police responded about 6:40 AM Wednesday to an armed robbery at the 7-Eleven 976 North Northwest Highway Park Ridge, IL. Police received a report that a man robbed the 7-Eleven store at Northwest Highway and Oakton Street Wednesday morning.

Detectives from the Park Ridge Police Department are investigating an armed robbery which occurred Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at approximately 6:40 a.m. Police learned that a male suspect entered the business, implied he had a gun and demanded that the employee give him money from the register. The employee provided the suspect with an undetermined amount of cash. The suspect then ran from the scene southwest on Rowe Avenue toward Busse Highway.

The suspect is described as a male/white, approximately 20-30 years of age, clean shaven, last seen wearing a grey stocking cap, black hoodie, gray athletic pants and black shoes. The suspect was also carrying a gray satchel.

Rolling Meadows police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 3:31 PM Friday to a report of smoke detected by an interior security camera at house at 3705 Oriole Lane Rolling Meadows, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of smoke seen on a security camera.

Firefighters initially reported nothing showing on arrival, but then reported light smoke showing from the eaves.

The interior crew reported heavy smoke inside.

The fire was immediately extinguished and crews were ventilating the house by 3:44 p.m.

Walking Cane Weapon? Male Bicyclist Injured, Another Man Arrested at Vail Ave and Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 2:57 PM Friday to a report of a bicyclist down in the intersection at Northwest Highway and Vail Avenue Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received an update that bicyclist may have been assaulted near the Marathon gas station.

Police and firefighter/paramedics found two adult males at the scene. One appeared to be injured in the face or head. He was transported by ambulance to Northwest Community Hospital.

Another man was standing near the intersection, and was being interviewed by police about 3:10 p.m.

The man was handcuffed and taken into custody in a police transport van, and then transported to Arlington Heights Police Department Headquarters.

Police photographed a walking cane on the sidewalk and various scene angles of the intersection, sidewalks, and crosswalks.

There was no confirmation whether the cane was used as a weapon to assault the bicyclist, and there was no confirmation whether an actual battery occurred.

Check back the next few days to see if there is any confirmation of the charges against the man that was taken into custody.

Arlington Heights police received a report about 1:51 PM Thursday of a an attempted vehicle theft 2700 North Buffalo Grove Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders damaged the passenger side lock of the victim's white Jeep Cherokee and gained entry to the vehicle. Inside the vehicle, the ignition cylinder was damaged. Nothing was taken from the vehicle. It appears the offender attempted to steal the vehicle but was unable to get the vehicle running.

The cost to repair the damage was unknown at the time of the police report.

Water Main Break Under Railroad Track on Kensington Rd East of Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights

7:51 PM Thursday . Westbound Kensington Road just east of Northwest Highway was closed this afternoon after Union Pacific Railroad reported a sinkhole on the access line to Heller Lumber. Railroad cars were delivering product to Heller Lumber when the sinkhole was discovered.

A leaking and broken water main was located near or right under the railroad track that runs from the main line to Heller Lumber.

Arlington Heights Public Works Department was on the scene and is expected to be working possibly through much of the night hours. Westbound Kensington Road may remain closed through part of the daylight hours Friday. Railroad worker will have to inspect and finish proper grading under the railroad track that crosses Kensington Road.

Westbound traffic on Kensington Road was diverted to northbound Hickory Avenue. Eastbound Kensington Road seemed to be unobsructed most of the time.

Fire Through Roof of Strip Mall Near Eisenhower Expressway and Kedzie Destroys Family Dollar and Urban Beautique, Chicago

Chicago police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 7:24 PM Monday report of a large strip mall fire at 423 South Kedzie Ave Chicago, Il. Chicago firefighters on arrival reported fire through the roof of a strip mall.

A fire in a strip mall about 150 feet by 150 feet was visible for miles according to CBS 2's Greg Kelly. Passersby on I-290 also reported the fire, which was just north of I-290, was visible for miles.

Fire command at 7:24 p.m. immediately requested a Still and Box alarm for extra firefighters to fight the fire at the strip mall.

A 2-11 Alarm fire was requested by 7:43 p.m., bringing an extra four fire engine, two ladder trucks and a tower ladder truck.

Special equipment, including a reserve snorkel truck, a water deluge gun truck and a hose wagon truck, were also requested to the scene.

A Hazmat Level I was also requested at the scene.

No injuries were reported.

Palatine Firefighters Hosting Patriot Day Memorial Ceremony Sunday Morning, September 11, 2016

On Sunday, September 11, 2016, the Village of Palatine will be hosting a memorial ceremony to honor those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. The ceremony will be held at the Palatine Firefighters Memorial at the corner of N. Brockway and W. Slade Streets in downtown Palatine. The ceremony
is scheduled to begin at 9:00 A.M. and will last approximately thirty minutes.

Palatine Fire Department members and retirees will be marching to the memorial site from Fire Station 85 at 39 E. Colfax Street and will be accompanied by the Palatine Fire Department Honor Guard and the Palatine
Police Department Honor Guard.

Members of the Palatine Fire and Police Departments will lower the flag, place a wreath at the memorial and also perform a ceremonial ringing of the bell to signify a firefighter's last call of duty.

Lake County Sheriff's Marine Unit Hit by Wellcraft Boat Near Petite Lake Sandbar -- Two Deputies Injured

Lake Villa police, Illinois Conservation Police and Lake Villa firefighter/paramedics responded about 11:45 PM Saturday to a report of crash with injuries at 42.431891, -88.127732 (Petite Lake Sandbar, Lake Villa, Il). Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that two boats crashed on Petite Lake near the Petite Lake Sandbar.

Quad 2 departments requested to respond with all Quad 2 divers.

BC24 reported Lake County Sheriff's boat is on the scene. Dispatch reported Lake County boat crew is bringing a patient to the medics on shore, but initially it did not appear that firefighters were aware that the Lake County Sheriff's boat was involved in the crash.

Lake County boat crew advised by midnight that no additional divers or boats would be needed.

Later it was reported that Lake County sheriff's office marine unit deputies were injured late Saturday while patrolling Petite Lake and responding to a noise complaint. The Lake County boat was involved in a collision with another boat.

A Lake County Sheriff's Office marine unit boat patrolling Petite Lake, just north of Fox Lake, was struck by a 21-foot 1989 Wellcraft fiberglass boat that was driven by a female resident, age 39, from Lindenhurst, according to Lake County Sheriff's Office Detective Christopher Covelli.

The two deputies aboard the marine unit boat were transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Covelli said.

The operator of the Wellcraft boat that collided with the Lake County Sheriff's marine unit was cited with careless operation and an equipment violation by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Conservation Police, which is investigating the accident, according to Covelli.

The sheriff's marine boat was one of two units responding to the noise complaint call, Covelli said.

According to the Lake County sheriff's office, the 15-deputy marine unit patrols Lake Michigan and inland waterways along with the Chain O' Lakes on the Fox River. The sheriff's office reports that the Chain O'Lakes is the busiest inland recreational waterway per acre in the United States.

Illinois Department of Natural Resources Conservation Police are investigating the accident, according to Covelli.

McHenry police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 10:12 PM Saturday to a report of crash with injuries at Solon Rd and Ringwood Rd Mchenry, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of a head-on crash with entrapment.

The crash was reported to be well north of Ringwood.

John and Claire Korkowski, of Spring Grove were pronounced dead at the scene about 10:30 p.m.

The crash is being investigated by the McHenry County Sheriff's Police Accident Investigation Unit.

Initial investigation shows that Korkowski's vehicle was northbound on Solon Road and was hit by another vehicle, which caused it to skid sideways off the shoulder on the northbound side of Solon Road. The Korkowski's vehicle then re-entered Solon Road and crossed over into the southbound lanes, where it was hit head-on by a second vehicle for a total of three vehicles involved in the crash.

Area police officer received a report that a man fled in a silver Nissan Altima during a traffic stop. A police officer noticed a handgun on the suspect's lap during a traffic stop, and the suspect then fled in his vehicle.

The suspect was described as a male/white in his 20s, brown hair, beard, wearing a T-shirt and jeans and armed with a semi-automatic handgun.

The suspect and vehicle were last seen by police fleeing eastbound on Palatine Road from Windsor Drive.

Pit Bull Terrier Rescued from Drainage Hole in Backyard on South Forrest Ave South of Kensington Rd, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 8:23 PM Thursday to a report of a Pit Bull injured after falling in a sewer drainage hole in a backyard in the block of 200 South Forrest Avenue Arlington Heights, Il. Firefighters on arrival confirmed a dog, possibly injured, after a fall into a sewer about 10 feet down.

Crew on arrival requests assistance from the animal warden.

Firefighters checked for any hazardous gas levels or air quality issues in the hole where the dog was located about 10 feet underground.

Firefighters began a small below-grade technical rescue operation with two firefighters lowered into a drainage hole in the backyard of a residence.

A Pit Bull Terrier named Clyde wasited quietly in the hole as firefighters prepared ropes, harnesses, carabiners, and webbing rigging to lower themselves into the drainage hole. Firefighters prepared a muzzle if necessary in case the dog's disposition was changed from any injuries.

A fire lieutenant and firefighter were lowered down a ladder into the hole. Firefighters in the hole applied a small tarp wrap around the dog. Firefighters used the small tarp wrap as a container to elevate the dog, and did not need to use a muzzle.

Clyde was raised from the hole without a problem and did not appear to have any serious injuries.
