2 Shot on Dodge Ave Sidewalk; Niles Man Killed in Evanston After Surviving Shooting at Former Siblings Bar in Chicago

Evanston police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 1:20 AM Monday to a report of two people shot in the block of 1800 Dodge Avenue Evanston, IL. Police on the scene discovered that one man was killed and a second man was injured in the shooting. Police on scene found two men shot near the sidewalk just north of Lyons Street. Before police arrived, two male suspects were seen by witnesses riding northbound on Dodge on bicycles, according to police. Donte Blackwell, 23, of Niles was shot once in the torso, according to police. He was taken to Evanston Hospital and was pronounced dead. A 21-year-old Evanston man was shot in the arm and leg. He was transported to Evanston Hospital and treated for injuries considered to be non-life-threatening, police said. Early Morning House Fire on Weston Dr Near Kingsley Dr, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 4:16 AM Sunday to a report of a house fire in the block of 1204 Weston Drive Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that fire was causing windows to break out. Police first on the scene reported flames and smoke visible from the back of the house. Engine 4's crew on arrival reported fire showing from the back of the house, and reported that the fire appeared to be exterior. Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault Arrest on East Algonquin Rd Near Briarwood Dr, Arlington Heights

A 25-year-old Arlington Heights resident has been arrested and charged with Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault and Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse. On August 25, 2015, the Arlington Heights Police Department was made aware of an allegation that the offender committed sexual acts on a minor family member at their residence in the 1100 block of East Algonquin Road -- believed to be in the Briar Trace Apartments near Algonquin Road and Briarwood Drive. A 27-year-old woman has been charged with promoting prostitution following an investigation by the Cook County Sheriff's Police Vice Unit, Sheriff Thomas J. Dart announced today. On Aug. 25, a Sheriff's Police undercover officer responded to an advertisement in the dating section of Backpage.com that appeared to be advertising prostitution. A woman was taken into custody for prostitution. During their investigation, Sheriff's Police Vice officers learned that Jessica Bealer had placed the ad on Backpage.com, rented the Schiller Park hotel room that was to be used for the prostitution, and that Bealer would profit from the other woman's prostitution. Bealer, of the 4700 block of South Calumet Avenue in Chicago, was charged with one count of promoting prostitution, a class 4 felony. Cook County Sheriff's police and North Maine Fire Protection District firefighter/paramedics responded about 3:06 PM Thursday to a report of three people not breathing at 3439 Harrison Street Des Plaines, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that three people were discovered unresponsive and not breathing in a townhouse on Harrison Street west of Dee Road. The location is also just east of the Illinois State Police District Chicago offices. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report found a young male landed in landscaping mulch in the parkway between a tree and the skywalk from Dunton Tower to the Vail Avenue Parking garage at 22 South Vail Avenue. The male patient was transported to Northwest Community Hospital with apparent non-life-threatening injuries. Several people saw the aftermath and the commotion after fall. Masked Robber Was Armed with A BB Gun at Kwick Shop Convenience, Liquor Store, Wauconda

The armed and masked man that was shot and killed Sunday night about 9:00 p.m. during an attempted robbery at the Kwick Shop convenience and liquor store in Wauconda was armed with a BB gun. He was shot four times -- once in the upper chest, once in each hip and once in his left thigh, according to Lake County Coroner Thomas Rudd. The identity of the dead suspect is Justin Greenenwald, 30, of Ingleside. A preliminary toxicology screening was positive, but ongoing lab work is necessary to determine what substance or substances were in Greenenwald's system. Greenenwald was wearing a mask, and was not carrying any identification when he pointed a gun at a customer and a store clerk and entered the Kwick Shop convenience/liquor store on Liberty Street near Route 176. Another Power Line Down on Euclid Ave, Arlington Heights -- This Time at Euclid Ave and Wilshire

Arlington Heights firefighter/paramedics responded about 8:50 PM Tuesday to a report of a tree on fire close to a house on Wilshire Lane near Euclid Ave and Wilshire Lane Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics also received a report that a power line was arcing near Euclid Avenue and Wilshire Lane. Firefighters on the scene reported a short between the primary and secondary power line. The line then burned through and caused an electric arcing explosion. After 9:00 p.m. at least one power line was down on the ground. Engine 2's crew reported a line down from pole-to-pole. The storm tonight possibly worsened damage that occurred yesterday. Overnight last night, ComEd worked through the night to make major repairs to power lines that were damaged in severe weather that occurred about 4:15 p.m. Monday. Much of the day yesterday afternoon, and overnight Monday to Tuesday Euclid Avenue was closed between Waterman Avenue and Rand Road. At about 9:30 p.m.
