Vehicle Runs Into Palatine Fire Department Truck At Crash Scene At Northwest Highway And Williams Ave, Palatine

Palatine police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 7:34 AM Tuesday to a multiple injury crash at Northwest Highway and Williams Avenue Palatine, IL. Frefighter/paramedics reported two vehicles with moderate damage. Palatine Fire Department Quint 83 was also on the scene and reported a vehicle ran into them. The second crash is believed to have occurred while the Quint fire truck was on the scene at about 7:46 a.m. -- Quint 83 had been on the scene for more than five minutes. At this time it is unknown if any firefighter/paramedics were on board the truck when it was hit. There were no reports of any firefighters injured. At least three victims were injured at this scene. Residential Burglary On East Rosehill Drive, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police received a report about 3:23 PM Friday of a residential burglary in the block of 1500 East Rosehill Drive Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders burglarized a Home on the north side of Arlington Heights Near Palatine Road and Windsor. Police received a report that residents arived home and noticed that the exterior rear door to the family room was opened and that items in the family room were disturbed. The residents immediately left the house and called the police. Closer inspection revealed that the back door was forced open by an unknown pry tool. Missing were two XBox controllers and an XBox 360 -- taken from the family room. The master bedroom was ransacked and unknown amount of jewelry was taken from the dresser. Residential Burglary on South Gibbons Avenue, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police received a report about 12:31 PM Tuesday of a residential burglary in the block of 500 South Gibbons Avenue Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders burglarized a two-story house while a housewatcher was watching the house and while the homeowners were out of town. The house watcher opened the front door and immediately saw -- directly to the back of the house -- that there was damage to the rear door lock and frame. On closer inspection it was evident that the door that leads to the kitchen was pried open. Unknown offender(s) ransacked a second floor bedroom and a second floor master bedroom. A jewelry box was missing, but no inventory is available at this time. Also, no damage estimate is available at this time for the rear door. Northbrook Woman Arrested: Aggravated Battery Of Child In Her Care In Mount Prospect

On Monday, December 23, 2013, investigators from the Mount Prospect Police Department arrested Tamara L. Nelson, 19, of 2345 White Oak Drive, Northbrook, on one count of aggravated battery of a child. On December 22, 2013, the Mount Prospect Police Department was notified of an infant who had been brought into Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge with head injuries. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the infant was being watched and under the immediate care of Ms. Nelson when the injuries occurred. Once the injuries were discovered, the mother of the infant transported the child to the hospital. The Department of Child and Family Services has also been notified of this incident and has initiated an investigation. The infant was treated and released from the hospital. Retail Theft Of Cigarettes At Walgreens On East Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police responded about 11:26 PM Saturday to a report of a retail theft at Walgreens, 1000 East Northwest Highway Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that two offenders were involved in a retail theft of cigarettes at Walgreens. A male/white teenager - 5'10" - 175lbs wearing black shirt, blue jeans and red baseball cap was seen by employees removing 6-8 packs of cigarettes from behind the main cash register before running out. An accomplice, described as a shorter male/white teenager and wearing a black shirt and blue jeans, also ran out of the store. Both teens entered a blue-gray VW and fled the parking lot. Arlington Heights residents are reminded that the 2014 Arlington Heights vehicle sticker can be purchased by the January 1 deadline by using the mail-in renewal form that was mailed in October, online by clicking here, or by stopping in at the Finance Counter on the first floor of Village Hall, 33 S. Arlington Heights Road. All vehicles registered with the Illinois Secretary of State to an address in Arlington Heights require a valid Village of Arlington Heights vehicle sticker. Applications must be submitted to Village of Arlington Heights Finance Department. The sticker must be displayed on the passenger-side of the front windshield of all vehicles by January 1 to avoid penalties. Police have released the identity of a suspect in at least 3 carjackings and a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed 11-year-old Donovan Turnage. Rockie Douglas, age 34, is also a suspect in a number of other robberies and criminal incidents ranging from Chicago to Wisconsin. A very merry Saturday morning at Target, 1700 East Rand Road as Arlington Heights Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 80 took ten children shopping through the aisles. At 6:45 a.m. about 20 Arlington Heights police officers helped children by gifts for their families. Each police officer had an assigned child with the help of a grant from Target. the police officers helped out with the budgeting, as each child was given a $100 gifts card. A few police officers helped out of their own pockets when a few children were a little over budget. One child said he arrived at the store a few days ago for an afternoon to plan ahead for today. Retail Theft Suspect Arrested At Kohl's On West Dundee Rd, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police responded on Tuesday to a report of a retail theft suspect detained at Kohl's, 800 West Dundee Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that a female offender concealed maternity clothes valued at $332 in her purse and on her person. She walked out without paying. The offender was identified as Rachael A. Chase, a female/white, age 18. Chase had been served a Kohl's "No Trespass Agreement" on August 5, 2013. Chase was arrested and charged with Misdemeanor Retail Theft and Misdemeanor Criminal Trespass. Rachael Chase also had an outstanding warrant out of Schaumburg. Wheeling police responded about 6:45 AM Thursday to a report of a hit-and-run at Walmart, 1455 East Lake Cook Road Wheeling, IL. Police received a report that an offender fled out of the Walmart after shoplifting some items or attempting to shoplift. A manager ran out of the store after him and attempted to block the offender's vehicle with his car. The offender rammed the manager's car with a white van and fled the seen. The crime is reported to have occurred at 6:40 a.m. Thursday. The offending vehicle was described was described as a blue 1998 Volkswagen 4-door. Vehicle-Pedestrian Incident At Hintz Rd And Tide Ct Shuts Down Hintz Road, Wheeling

Wheeling police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 6:15 PM Wednesday to hintz and Tide Ct Wheeling, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a pedestrian was hit by a car at Hintz Road and Tide Court. Police arrived first and immediately shut down eastbound Hintz Road at Route 83. Wheeling firefighter/paramedics transported the victim to Glenbrook Hospital -- apparently with life-threatening injuries. A prolonged accident investigation was underway until about 11:45 p.m., and Hintz Road was re-opened at about 11:55 p.m. Wednesday. Target Customers Hit By Major Credit Card Breach Starting On Black Friday

Payment card data was stolen from an unknown number of Target Corp. customers starting on the busy Black Friday weekend in a major breach at the U.S. retailer, and the incident is being investigated by the U.S. Secret Service. The incident is believed to have affected all Target stores nationwide from Black Friday (November 29, 2013) through Sunday, December 15, 2013. The breach could potentially involve millions of customer credit cards and debit cards. The type of data stolen was from the "track data" which includes customer names, car expiration date, the service code, the primary account number and other data. Obtaining the track data, likely possible by installation of malicious software somewher in the credit card payment system, allows offenders to create counterfeit credit cards and debit cards by encoding the information onto any card with a magnetic stripe. Unknown subjects called the victim, who lives in the 1200 block of Luther Lane, over several days and talked her into wiring over $2,600 via Western Union. The offender(s) convinced the victim her grandson was injured in a DUI accident and needed money for an attorney. The elderly female victim made two wire transfers to the offenders. The offenders pretended to be the grandson and two attorneys.
