The Arlington Heights Police Department has commenced specialized traffic enforcement activities relating to the Labor Day Holiday "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Click It or Ticket" enforcement campaigns now through September 6, 2016. Enforcement activities will include numerous seatbelt enforcement zones and extra DUI saturation patrols. Arlington Heights Police Department participated in a joint Roadside Safety Checkpoint with the Elk Grove Village Police Department on Friday, August 26, 2016 in Elk Grove Village. Officers working the campaigns will be attempting to identify and cite motorists who choose to drive without using their safety belts, are driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or are committing other traffic-related offenses. Construction workers on the scene were able to shut the gas off by a valve after a gas pipe was broken. Engine 82's crew on arrival reported construction workers met with firefighters on arrival and explained the broken pipe and valve shutoff situation. Construction workers shut off gas to the roof piping of the building, but some gas was still leaking from crack in a three-quarter inch gas valve. Firefighters worked to confirm that the main gas was shut off to the entire building. The gas leak was stopped, and contractors reported they would repair the cause of the leak in about an hour. Public Indecent Exposure at Lake Arlington Wednesday Night, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police responded about 9:51 PM Wednesday to a report of public indecency at Lake Arlington 1400 East Valley Lane Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender removed his pants and exposed himself to the victim, while she was walking in the southeast portion of the bike/walk path around the lake. The offender was described as a White or Hispanic Male, under 30 years old, wearing a dark colored T-shirt and jeans. The offender was last seen near the path on foot. The crime is reported to have occurred on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 9:50 PM. Theft of Tires from Toyota Corolla Parked at Hotel Lot on North Wilke Rd Near Ventura Dr, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police received a report about 2:31 PM Tuesday of a theft of tires at Courtyard Marriott Hotel, 3700 North Wilke Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders removed the two front tires from the victim's gray 2004 Toyota Corolla while the vehicle was parked in the lot. The offenders were described as two Hispanic, teenaged, males. Suspect #1 was wearing a white shirt and jeans. Suspect #2 was tattooed and was wearing a black shirt and jeans. The suspects were seen leaving the area in a blue Toyota Corolla. The cost to replace the stolen tires is unknown at the time of the police report.
