Hydrant Flushing Begins April 23, 2018 in Arlington Heights

The annual hydrant flushing program will begin April 23 in the center sections of the Village, with different neighborhoods in the Village being done over a two and a half week period. The hydrant flushing ensures hydrants are operable and have adequate flow rates for public safety. During the two and a half weeks of hydrant flushing residents may notice that water is discolored due to flushing. The Village of Arlington Heights recommends resident not to wash white clothes until the water clears up (should clear up within an hour). Rolling Meadows police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 4:44 AM Friday to a report of a house fire at 3711 Meadow Drive Rolling Meadows, Il. The first crew on arrival reported flames showing from the front of the house. Firefighters on interior attack reported a fire in the living room and updated the response to a working fire response by 4:51 a.m. The fire was immediately extinguished by firefighters. Two victims were discovered injured -- a woman in her eighties, who suffered burn injuries; and her 45 year-old son. Initially it was unknown if any additional vehicles were involved in the crash. Bartlett fire command on arrival reported a vehicle wrapped around a pole. The crash near the westbound lanes of Lake Street and near the ramp to Sutton Road (Route 59). The crash reported to be located on westbound Lake St (US 20). South Elgin Ambulance 24 was assigned as an additional ambulance and Streamwood Ambulance 32 was assigned as an additional ambulance by 12:50 p.m. Two additional ambulances requested for a total of five ambulalnces at 12:52 p.m. Hanover Park Medic 16 was assigned as fourth ambulance at 12:56 p.m. The identity of the fifth ambulance assigned was not initially known.

South Middle School Student Reports Inappropriate Proposition by Unknown Male Motorist Near Fairview St and Patton Ave, Arlington Heights

Police received a report that a South Middle School female student was walking home from school Tuesday, April 3, 2018, and was inappropriately propositioned by a male driver at the stop sign intersection of Fairview Street and Patton Avenue. The student ignored the driver and continued walking. The driver of the vehicle left the scene, heading eastbound on Fairview Street towards Arlington Heights Road. The driver was described as a white male, early 20's, with a medium build. He was driving a 4-door, maroon car. The student did not observe the vehicle's license plate number. Upon arriving home, the student immediately told her parents, and her parents notified the Arlington Heights Police Department. The Arlington Heights police issued a patrol alert to their patrol officers regarding this incident. Andino, of the block of 1300 71st Street in Chicago is suspected of removing six boxes of over-the-counter medication without paying. He was charged with retail theft. Jose A. Illinois State police and Arlington Heights and Schaumburg firefighter/paramedics responded about 5:25 PM Saturday to a report of a rollover extrication crash, 42.057232, -88.024970 (WB I-90 and Route 53 Rolling Meadows, IL). Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that the crash occurred near Meacham Road, but the crash actually occurred just east of Route 53/I-290 Schaumburg's Ambulance 52 crew on arrival reported they did not have access from Route 53, as they were too far west of the crash. Schaumburg firefighters also reported Arlington Heights firefighters were already on the scene. Schaumburg Truck 52's crew stopped on the ramp from northbound Route 53 to westbound I-90, just west of the crash scene to see if it was necessary to walk any extrication tools to the scene to assist Arlington Heights firefighter/paramedics.
