Schaumburg police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 12:53 PM Monday to a fatal motorcycle crash with a car at Roselle Rd and Hartford Dr Schaumburg, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a motorcyclist was involved in a crash with a car. The motorcyclist was reported to have severe injuries. Schaumburg police and firefighter/paramedics found the motorcycle driver deceased off the road at the northeast corner of the intersection. Both the motorcycle and the Ford Taurus sedan that was involved in the crash with the motorcycle came to a rest on the northeast corner. The motorcycle driver killed was identified as Wayne Grothe, age 23, of Hoffman Estates, and a graduate of Conant High School in 2009. He also worked at a Harley-Davidson dealership. Three annual events in two weekends are approaching fast this late summer. The Mane Event is a food and music event scheduled for Friday August 8, 2014. The Taste of Arlington in Arlington Heights is a food and music event scheduled for Saturday, August 9, 2014. These bookend events kick off the Arlington Million the following weekend on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Arlington International Racecourse. Both the Mane Event and Taste of Arlington in Arlington Heights are located at Vail Avanue and Campbell Street in downtown. The events combined are one of the biggest weekend celebrations of the summer. Northwest Community Healthcare's (NCH) Animal-Assisted Therapy program is looking for more four-legged friendly volunteers and their handlers to help expand the popular program that aids patients during their recovery. Lovable canines and their volunteer owners have helped bring comfort and smiles to patients and visitors at NCH for seven years. A team consists of a dog and its handler, who must be the owner of the pet and at least 18 years old. Therapy dogs can be any breed, but must be in good health, obedient, enjoy people and get along with other dogs. Volunteers need to complete an application. Evanston Police arrested a Mount Prospect man 3:30 PM Friday near Ashland Avenue and 1655 Foster Street Evanston, IL. Mount Prospect resident Jamal M. Dumas, 18, of the 1600 block of Cottonwood Drive in Mount Prospect, was arrested after Evanston police approached him and a group of people near the Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center in Evanston at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Dumas was arrested by Evanston police after he was found in possession of a loaded .22-caliber semiautomatic handgun with an obliterated serial number, according to police. Two Adults Charged With Drug Offenses After They're Captured With Cannabis, Cash In Woodfield Mall Parking Lot

Schaumburg Police Department (SPD) Patrol and Tactical officers charged 25 year old Daniel S. Mason with Unlawful Delivery of Cannabis (Class 3 Felony), and charged 19 year old Christopher M. Rossiter with Unlawful Possession of Cannabis (Class 4 Felony) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Class A Misdemeanor). On July 12, 2014 at approximately 1:40 p.m., Woodfield Mall security officers reported coming in contact with Mason and Rossiter while they were sitting in a vehicle parked on Woodfield Mall property. The security officers detected an odor of burnt cannabis coming from the vehicle and called SPD to the scene. Mason allegedly fled on foot prior to the arrival of police, but was taken into custody by SPD a short time later. Subsequent investigation revealed Mason and Rossiter met at the Woodfield Mall parking lot where Mason allegedly sold approximately one-half pound of cannabis to Rossiter in exchange for $1000 cash. Arlington Heights police received a report about 12:30 AM Monday of a reckless driver near Arlington Heights Road and White Oak Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report from a witness that an unknown offending driver aimed his vehicle at an oncoming vehicle that was proceeding through the controlled intersection on a green light. The victim's vehicle was northbound without stopping in the right lane with a green light when the offending driver aimed his vehicle at the victim's vehicle (as if to turn eastbound on White Oak Street), and stopped facing southbound in the northbound left lane at the intersection of Arlington Heights Road and White Oak Street -- short of crashing into the victim's vehicle. The victim's vehicle continued northbound on Arlington Heights Road. The offending driver then made a U-Turn and headed northbound in front of the witness, who was also traveling northbound. The offending driver sped up to tailgate the victim's vehicle.

Joseph McMahon, age 89, reported missing from Arlington Heights since Friday was located safe in southwest suburban Lockport in Will County within hours after Arlington Heights police broadcast a bulletin about the missing man late Saturday. Lockport police found Joseph McMahon at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday in what police described as "a state of mental confusion."
